Full Suspension

Full mooned and hanging, the night is in it’s deepest but I can already hear the birds. All mountains are invisible. Saint Pierre is illuminated, but the moon, the moon is brighter. the bus I ride (rode) to CERN every day snakes around the corner on the street below.

Would you like a visitor pass for today? No, no thanks. I’m done. Done. Merci!

It’s funny, how often I find myself sitting on top of suitcases at odd hours and on the edge of things. Packing and unpacking for the sake of keeping moving. Finding pieces of trash that I’ve brought back and forth across that ocean more than once. Wishing I had an analog clock so I could twist the arms off of it and listen to it just try to tick, motionless, and against itself. Give it a couple of hours. Soon you’ll be alone in the street with all the 50 kg of your life rolling complacently behind you.

But isn’t that how things always change?  Even when you expect it? Abruptly?

River was warm today. Evening hasn’t brought any cold, but the mornings have developed an autumn smell. Sky is clear, but any moment it could rain. O, take heed, take heed of the western wind! take heed of stormy weather! California, ho!

Maybe next summer.
